Cabin country, twenty minutes out.

Lac des Îles is the closest of the park's cabin lakes to Goodsoil: 15 to 20 minutes, depending which shore you're headed for. The south-shore resorts and cabins come off Highway 954, and Murray Doell campground on the north shore is reached by Highway 950. The lake drains through the Waterhen River and, a very long way downstream, into Hudson Bay. Maps and locals spell it both ways, Lac des Îles and Lac des Iles.

Cabin wiring has its own habits. Places get built in stages, wired by whoever was handy that summer, then left cold for months at a time. The jobs follow from that: a panel with no space left, a bunkhouse or addition that needs a proper feed, outdoor outlets that won't survive another winter, a hot tub that needs its own circuit, and a buried line down toward the water.

Permanent lights make a lot of sense at the lake. Gemstone roofline and deck lights stay up year-round, so the cabin is lit when you pull in after dark, and their sunset timers keep running even if the cabin internet drops. We install the track and do the wiring behind it. Resorts get commercial installation and maintenance, and for the night something fails, there's a 24/7 emergency line.
