Dorintosh sits on Highway 4, about 5 km south of the east entrance to Meadow Lake Provincial Park. Its name is a blend of two MPs, Dorise Nielsen and Cameron McIntosh. Only 107 people live in the village, but plenty more pass through on the way to the lakes, and the farms around it belong to the RM of Meadow Lake, which also takes in the park itself.

Inside the park, Greig Lake is a resort village of its own, incorporated in 1983 and surrounded by parkland. It has 44 dwellings, a 150-site campground with mini-golf, and the eastern trailhead of the 135 km Boreal Trail. From Goodsoil it's about 52 minutes, roughly ten minutes past Dorintosh, and its cabins have the usual lake-country needs: more power than they were built for, and wiring that sits idle through winter.
