Most of the houses we work on around Goodsoil and Pierceland aren't new. There's the farmhouse that's been added onto twice, the bungalow with a panel older than anyone living in it, and the acreage where the garage got its power from an extension cord. Residential work here is mostly about making the house you already have safe, and able to handle what you plug into it.

That covers the small jobs, like a dead outlet, a new light over the island or a block heater plug that actually reaches the truck. It covers the bigger ones too: rewiring a kitchen, running a sub-panel to the garage, or upgrading an old 100-amp service so there's room for a hot tub or an electric range. Work is done to the Canadian Electrical Code, with a TSASK permit whenever one is required.

Winter raises the stakes. January in this region averages about −16.8 °C (Meadow Lake Airport normals), so a dead furnace circuit or a tripped heat-trace line can't wait until next week. We're local, emergency calls are answered 24/7, and every job site gets cleaned before we leave. Quotes are free, and Blair will tell you plainly what needs doing now and what can wait.

## Why Baer Electric

- **Licensed by TSASK:** Baer Electric Inc. holds a Full Contractor licence and Blair Baer a Full Journeyman licence, both with no restrictions. You can check either one on TSASK's public licence lookup.
- **Close to home:** Our shop is just south of Goodsoil, near Peerless. Pierceland and Dorintosh are about 40 minutes away, and Meadow Lake is about an hour.
- **Installed for the cold:** Outdoor outlets, block heater plugs and heat-trace circuits are installed for the weather they'll actually see. The regional record low is −51.7 °C.
- **Permits and current code:** When work needs a permit, we take it out with TSASK. We work to the 2024 Canadian Electrical Code, enforced in Saskatchewan since June 1, 2025.
- **Clean job sites:** Every job site is cleaned up before we leave. Offcuts, old fixtures and drywall dust don't stay behind.
- **25+ years, 500+ projects:** Baer Electric has been wiring homes in this corner of Saskatchewan since 1999, and it's still owner-run.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do I need a permit for electrical work on my house?

Most new circuits, panel changes and renovation wiring in Saskatchewan need an electrical permit from TSASK. As the licensed contractor, we take out the permit for the work we do.

### Can I do some of the wiring myself?

Saskatchewan lets homeowners wire their own home under a TSASK homeowner permit, with conditions. If you'd rather leave it to a licensed electrician, or only want help with part of the job, call us.

### My breaker keeps tripping. Is that dangerous?

A breaker that trips is doing its job, but one that trips again and again points to an overloaded circuit, a failing appliance or a wiring fault. If it trips right after you reset it, or you smell anything hot, leave it off and call us.

### Do you work on older homes and farmhouses?

All the time. Older houses around here often have small services, ungrounded outlets or additions wired in different decades, and we'll sort out what's safe, what isn't and what to fix first.

### How much does residential electrical work cost?

It depends on the job, the age of the house and how far we're driving. Quotes are free, and you'll have a clear number before any work starts.
