# New Construction & Renovation Wiring — Baer Electric

> Baer Electric wires new homes, additions, renovations, garages and shops in northwest Saskatchewan, from rough-in to final connection. The TSASK-licensed contractor takes out the permit, works to your builder's schedule, and can plan power for Gemstone permanent lights during the build.

The easiest time to get the electrical right is before the walls are closed. Once the drywall is up, moving an outlet, adding a circuit for the future hot tub or running a line for the yard light gets harder and costs more. On new builds and additions, we sit down with you or your builder early, go through the plans, and wire for how the place will actually be lived in.

A typical job runs from the service and panel through rough-in, then back after drywall for devices, fixtures and final connections. We take out the TSASK permit and make sure the rough-in is done and checked before insulation and drywall go on. Renovations work the same way, with extra care around old wiring: we tie into what's sound and replace what isn't.

Shops and garages are a big part of building out here, and they need more than a couple of outlets: welder and compressor circuits, heat, lighting, and usually a sub-panel. We also plan for what you'll want later, like an EV charger, a hot tub, a generator connection or [permanent roofline lights](https://baerelectric.ca/gemstone-lights/residential/), which we install on new builds as well as existing homes.

## Why Baer Electric

- **Planned from the drawings:** We go through the plans early so outlets, circuits and lighting land where you'll use them.
- **Builder-friendly:** We work to your builder's schedule and keep rough-in moving so other trades aren't left waiting.
- **Permits and code:** TSASK permits and the 2024 Canadian Electrical Code, enforced in Saskatchewan since June 1, 2025.
- **Shops done properly:** Welders, compressors, heaters and lighting on circuits sized for them, usually from a dedicated sub-panel.
- **Ready for permanent lights:** As a Gemstone dealer, we plan the outlet and control location for permanent roofline lights before the walls are closed.

## How it works

1. **Review the plans:** We go through the drawings with you or your builder and agree on the layout.
2. **Quote and permit:** You get a written quote, and we take out the TSASK permit.
3. **Rough-in:** Service, panel, boxes and wiring go in and are checked before insulation and drywall.
4. **Finish:** After drywall we install devices and fixtures, make final connections, test everything and clean up.

## Frequently asked questions

### When should I bring in the electrician on a new build?

As early as you can, ideally while the plans are still on paper. It's much easier to plan circuits, the panel location and future loads before framing is done.

### Do you work with general contractors?

Yes. We can work to your builder's schedule, or directly with you if you're managing the build yourself.

### Can you wire my shop?

Yes. Shops usually need a sub-panel, welder and compressor circuits, heat and good lighting. We'll size it for the tools you have and the ones you're planning to buy.

### Can you pre-wire for things I'll add later?

Yes, and it's worth doing. A circuit or conduit run for a future EV charger, hot tub or generator connection costs far less during the build than after it.

### Do you do renovations in older homes?

Yes. We tie into existing wiring that's sound, replace what isn't, and tell you if something we find behind the wall needs attention.
