Some electrical problems can wait for a weekday. A burning smell from the panel, an outlet that's hot to the touch, half the house going dark, water getting into the service, or a barn fan that quits at −30 can't. Those are the calls our emergency line is for, and it's answered 24/7.

We're honest about distance. The shop is just south of Goodsoil; Pierceland and Dorintosh are about 40 minutes away and Meadow Lake is about an hour, and weather and gravel park roads add time. When you call, we'll tell you plainly when we can get there and what to do safely until then. If switching off a breaker will make it safe, we'll say so.

Not every outage is ours to fix. If your neighbours are dark too, or a line is down, that's SaskPower's side of the meter. If you've lost power and they haven't, or only part of your building is out, the problem is likely on your side, and that's where we come in. Fire or injury is always a 911 call first.

## Frequently asked questions

### What counts as an electrical emergency?

Burning smells, smoke, sparking, hot or scorched outlets, water near electrical equipment, or losing power to heat, livestock ventilation or a well in winter. If you're not sure, call 306-238-7655 and ask.

### There's a power line down. What should I do?

Stay well back, keep everyone else away, and treat the line as live even if it isn't sparking. Call 911 if anyone is hurt or there's a fire, then call SaskPower; downed utility lines are theirs to handle.

### My power is out. Should I call you or SaskPower?

If your neighbours are out too, or the outage is area-wide, call SaskPower. If only your place is dark, or only part of it, the problem is probably on your side of the meter, and that's when to call us.

### What should I do while I wait?

If you can reach the panel safely and nothing around it is wet or burning, switch off the affected breaker or the main. Don't touch anything wet, sparking or hot, and keep people and pets away from it.

### How fast can you get here?

It depends on where you are and the roads that day. Pierceland and Dorintosh are about 40 minutes from our shop and Meadow Lake about an hour, and we'll give you an honest estimate when you call.
